Ebola Having Little Impact on Business Travel, Study Says

Although recent opinion polls say that many in the public are more afraid of falling ill from the Ebola virus than they are from influenza—a far more imminent threat—so far, fears about Ebola have not had a big impact on business travel.

Although recent opinion polls say that many in the public are more afraid of falling ill from the Ebola virus than they are from influenza—a far more imminent threat—so far, fears about Ebola have not had a big impact on business travel, according to recent article from our sister publications group, MeetingsNet:

News about the Ebola virus having infected a second healthcare worker who tended to the first Ebola victim Dallas' Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital—and that she flew on a commercial flight the day before she checked into the hospital with symptoms of the disease, apparently with the Centers for Disease Control’s blessing—has meeting planners concerned that the issue could affect attendance at their meetings. However, according to a survey this week of 421 corporate travel managers conducted by the GBTA Foundation, the education and research arm of the Global Business Travel Association, concerns over the disease so far have not had much of an impact on business travel. --MeetingsNet
