Miller to resume role with Aztec Tents

Torrance, Calif.-based Aztec Tents announced last week that owner Chuck Miller will resume his full-time role as company president and will resign his post as president of Classic Tents, the event rental outlet he has overseen for the past 13 months. Miller, who has owned Aztec Tents since 1981, will formally enact this transition on Jan. 1.

After the November 2005 acquisition of Aztec Tents’ rental division by Los Angeles-based Classic Party Rentals, Miller led both Aztec Tents’ manufacturing operations and Classic Party Rentals’ newly created rental division, Classic Tents. With Classic Tents’ transition into the Classic Party Rentals network complete, Miller will culminate his employment with the event rental company, according to a company statement.

CORE CONCENTRATION

“I cannot say enough about the time I spent working with the elite professionals at Classic Tents and Classic Party Rentals, however I look forward to concentrating my energies toward Aztec Tents’ core business,” Miller said. “Throughout the past year, I’ve continued to keep my finger on the pulse of Aztec Tents, but nothing equals the enjoyment I experience from being part of Aztec’s day-to-day operations. I relish resuming this very close involvement.”

As Aztec Tents’ president, Miller will continue to oversee business operations, with an increased emphasis on client interaction, national and international sales, and internal relationships. Entering 2007, Aztec’s company-wide mission includes expanding its internal and external sales and representation force, growing through acquisition, creating additional distribution centers and expanding its presence throughout the global tent market, the company said.

Over the last three years, Aztec Tents has increased annual revenues by 700 percent, increased production facility space by 800 percent, increased employee count by 500 percent, and increased daily production by 1,000 percent, Aztec said. In October, Aztec Tents hosted its first annual Building Innovation conference, a gathering of 13 select event rental companies to discuss topics including future trends, customer service, marketing and new product offerings.
