Single-use dinnerware from EarthShell consists of materials including starch from potatoes and other vegetables mixed with the natural materials limestone, air and water, the manufacturer says.

The dinnerware is designed to be strong enough for heavy, messy meals and is microwave-safe.

The line is energy-efficient to produce, meaning it generates fewer greenhouse gas emissions during manufacture.

The 9-inch plates, 6-inch plates and 12-ounce bowls are 100 percent recyclable through composting, the manufacturer says
