Recession worries planners Two-thirds of the 605 respondents to a survey on the Special Events Web site say they are concerned that the recession will affect their business this year. Twenty percent said they aren't worried and 13 percent say, "It doesn't matter--my events are recession proof" …

International airfare costs jump, AmEx says The "2007 Business Travel Monitor," released last week by American Express Business Travel, said that international rates for airfare and hotel stays rose last year while U.S. rates remained stable. "Companies can achieve savings in this environment through a well-managed, dynamic travel and entertaining program allowing the flexibility to adjust their travel policies in real-time accordance with fast-moving industry changes," said Herve Sedky, vice president and general manager, Global Advisory Services, for AmEx Business Travel. Sine 2004, the average international airfare paid has increased 21 percent, the data shows, while U.S. fares went down a dollar from 2006 to 2007.
