Airlines back off bag fees United Airlines last week canceled its plans to boost fees for a second checked bag to $50 from $25 and said it would discount by 20 percent the cost to check the first bag provided the traveler pays for online during the holiday travel season. Delta said last week it will now charge $15 for the first checked bag and $25 for the second; in July, Delta said it would boost its second checked-bag fee to $50. Lower fuel costs are taking pressure off airlines to shore up revenue, the Wall Street Journal reports ...
