Tiffany party glitters in Beverly Hills

When high-style architect meets high-end jeweler, it's a great excuse for a celebration. And that's just what Tiffany & Co. did on Sunday night, taking over a section of Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills in front of its store to launch its Gehry Collection, designed by famed Frank Gehry, architect of L.A.'s Disney Hall and the Guggenheim Bilbao, Spain.

Mixing precious gems with woods and exotic stone, the Gehry Collection includes jewelry and tabletop items based on themes such as "Fish," "Orchid" and "Torque." The line will debut at select Tiffany stores in the U.S. and Japan next month.

More than 300 guests, including high-wattage actors Angelica Houston and Laurence Fishburne and artist Ed Moses, turned out to gaze at the jewelry and listen to singers John Legend and Patti LaBelle.

Chief architect for the party was L.A.-based The Donahue Group, who brought in the Wolfgang Puck catering team to cook up a menu including Spicy Tuna Tartare in Sesame-Miso Tuile Cones, Chopped Chino Farms' Vegetable Salad, Cote de Boeuf with Peppercorn Sauce, and Chinois Lamb Chops.

L.A.'s Ball-Nogues created the dramatic environment, which included paper "clouds" drifting above the party scene, wavy chaises and huge cardboard "walls" defining the space. The look echoed the naturalistic, elemental motifs in the new jewelry line.

ShowPro oversaw lighting, while Classic Party Rentals brought in rental items.
