Artificial Ice Events of Peabody, Mass., installs "rinks" made of a plastic polymer that simulate the experience of skating on natural ice, the company says.

The system requires no water or refrigeration; rinks can be installed on any flat surface, indoors or out.

The company offers both portable rinks that can be rented as needed and custom ice rinks for long-term installations.

The surface is suitable for both ice skating and ice hockey, the company says.
