Temporary Ice Rinks, New 'Liquid Scenic' Technology, Laser-engraving via Smartphone

All Access Offers Temporary Ice Rinks
All Access Staging & Production has teamed with Ice-America to offer temporary ice-skating rinks for events of all sizes, including parties, promotional events, fairs and festivals. Planners can arrange for a complete package for easy, full-service, custom rinks, the company says. The ice rinks are supplied ready-to-skate, complete with perimeter boarding and a cooling system. The rinks are up to 40 percent more economical in terms of energy consumption than traditional ice rinks that use rubber or polyethylene, according to the company. The rinks can be placed in city centers, shopping malls, parks, sports arenas, airports and public buildings.

AV Concepts Debuts Liquid Scenic Technology
The new "Liquid Scenic" live event technology from AV Concepts enables staging designers to create custom looks through an innovative process of HD projection-mapping set pieces. As a result, the look of scenery changes constantly, and can be customized for each speaker. The company supplies a custom HD media server to provide clear, uncompressed content; the technology is designed to work in a wide range of venues and for audiences ranging from 50 to more than 10,000 attendees. The technology debuted at the CEMA Summit earlier this month.

Digital Images Introduces Engraving via Smartphone
Digital Images Group, which provides a laser-based technology that quickly and easily engraves party favors and event premiums on-site, has debuted a new smartphone interface that speeds up the process. Using the new SII (smartphone interactive interface), guests scan a QR (quick response) code on their smartphone at, for example, a trade-show booth. The system submits the guest's engraving request, then sends the guest a text message when the engraved item is ready. Not only does the new interface save guests from having to stand in line while they wait for their item to be engraved, it also enable the event sponsor to send follow-up messages or surveys to the guests.
