IML Debuts Audience Response System
Interactive event technology firm IML has introduced the IML Connector, which the company describes as not so much a handset as a mini computer that offers new options for audience-response tracking. The new device features a built-in microphone, a full QWERTY keyboard (rather than a simple text keypad), a simultaneous interpretation feature, the ability to function as a portable PA system, multiple audio channels, an OLED color screen for multimedia and high-resolution graphics, and an accelerometer, which detects tilt and orientation. The device debuted at InfoComm last month.

"David Stark Design" Book Released
New from Monacelli Press, "David Stark Design," by renowned event designer David Stark, reveals the artistic process behind 30 unique parties. The 224-page book uses photos and comment to chronicle Stark's design concepts and philosophies, including his penchant for repurposing everyday objects and materials into attractive design elements. The book focuses on the moment that guests set foot inside the event space Stark has designed. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design and the School of Visual Arts, Stark was a painter before he went into event design.
