The Los Angeles Chapter of NACE honored John J. Daly Jr., CSEP, as the first recipient of its Los Angeles Event Industry Achievement Award with a gala dinner in September.

Some 200 guests gathered at the Doubletree Hotel in Pasadena, Calif., for a multi-course meal created by chef Lupe Trujillo, a silent auction, dancing, cigar and martini bars, and a 1920s-style casino, including a 1920 horseracing wheel once owned by Liberace.

According to event organizer Steve Hand, vice president of Go West Event Productions, Westlake Village, Calif., Daly received the honor in recognition of his stature in the special event industry and his willingness to “give back.” “John was instrumental in founding ISES and the SEARCH Foundation,” Hand said. SEARCH aids event professionals who suffer from debilitating illnesses or occurrences. Proceeds from the evening benefited NACE and SEARCH.

Daly is head of Santa Barbara, Calif.-based John Daly Inc., International.
