As the special event industry plans an unprecedented number of events to ring in the new century, underwriter Victor O. Schinnerer & Co. announces the Gulf/Schinnerer Event Cancellation Millennium Program. Manager Duane Repko tells Special Events Magazine that the comprehensive form covers financial loss in cases of nonappearance of performers and weather conditions that could lead to postponement or cancellation of events. Repko says that each event will be considered individually for Y2K coverage, adding that most insurance companies are conservative in offering such coverage.

After the millennium celebrations, the program will continue to offer coverage for concerts, sporting events and festivals, according to Repko.
