Once in place, the task force was charged with creating minimum best practices for event organizers and suppliers to use as a guidelines for implementing policies of sustainability.

"This has been an important project for CIC to lead," said Mary Power, president of the Convention Industry Council. "Not only is the report an incredibly value toolkit for the industry, but it will raise industry awareness of some simple environmental solutions that are appropriate in today's world."

The results of the task force's work are a series of guidelines for event organizers and event suppliers on running environmentally-friendly events. Those guidelines are available on-line at www.conventionindustry.org/projects/green_meetings_report.pdf.
