Summer has only started but already labor strife is kicking up at U.S. hotels.

Pickets--some in costume--marched in front of hotels at Disneyland in Anaheim, Calif., yesterday. Unite Here Local 681 wants the Disneyland Hotel, Grand Californian and Paradise Pier to sign deals similar to those signed with Sheraton and Hilton, which include wage increases. Union workers have been without a contract since the end of January, according to the Orange Country Register, and at first even refused to meet with Disney. Negotiations, overseen by a federal mediator, began in the spring.

Over the weekend, some 350 foodservice workers with Unite Here Local 26 went on strike in Boston, picketing in front of the Hynes Convention Center and Boston Convention and Exhibition Center. The three-day strike, which ended Monday, came as the result of a dispute with Aramark Corp., the big foodservice provider, which has contracts with both facilities.

The workers in Boston have been without a contract since September, and the two sides have not been at the bargaining table since May. The National Labor Relations Board is reviewing the situation.
