Brian MacFarland, president of Clovis, Calif.-based MacFarland Action Concepts, announced today that his company has purchased the assets of Best Rents in Bakersfield, Calif. Best Rents has provided special events equipment in the area for more than 50 years. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

“Best Rents presented a fabulous opportunity for me and my family to enter into the party rental industry as owner-operators,” MacFarland said. “Best has never had an outside sales presence and has been run by absentee owners, so we’re looking to change that and really drive revenues.”

MacFarland formerly worked in a service support role for Up-Right, an aerial work platform manufacturer near Fresno, Calif. “I know the rental concept and am looking forward to the challenge of the retail end of the channel,” he said.

Hageman, Stansberry & Associates, a mergers and acquisitions consulting firm specializing in the special event and equipment rental industries, managed the deal on behalf of Best Rents.
