Metropolitan Pier and Exposition Authority

has announced that it will add more than 800,000 square feet to McCormick Place, "the nation's number one convention center," according to MPEA. The Illinois legislature approved the expansion on May 31, and completion of McCormick Place West is targeted for 2007. The new facility will provide an additional 600,000 square feet of exhibit space, 140,000 square feet of meeting space, and a 60,000-square-foot ballroom.
