The Special Event roars into Orlando

Some 1,110 special event professionals roared into Orlando, Fla., last night at The Special Event 2003 Welcome Party, held at the Harley Davidson Historic Factory.

Sponsored by Special Events Magazine and CMI, both publications of Primedia Business Magazines & Media, The Special Event 2003 trade show and conference runs Jan. 8-11.

The traditional kickoff for The Special Event, the Welcome Party featured food stations hosted by members of the National Association of Catering Executives. Highlights of the evening opportunities for guests to get henna tattoos, ride “Fat Boys” and enjoy beer in ice mugs.

Features of today’s program include the Opening General Session, featuring former-fighter-pilots-turned-speakers the Afterburners, the Theme Luncheon, titled “Evolution Revolution,” and the Opening Night Party, an extravaganza taking place at Tomorrowland in Walt Disney World. The education program will feature sessions including “Corporate Event Planners: What Keeps You Up At Night?” “The Intricacies of a Flawless Wedding” and “Working with International Partners.” Attendees can also visit more than 400 booths featuring a wide array of products and services for event professionals.
