At a gala banquet Friday in Los Angeles, Special Events Magazine won a Maggie Award from the Western Publications Association.

Special Events won for its October feature “Foreign Affairs,” which gave event professionals tips on producing events abroad.

Some 1,000 magazines entered the competition, which has honored outstanding magazine work for more than 50 years. Although Special Events has won Maggies for its promotional materials, this is the magazine’s first win for its editorial content.

Special Events publisher Lisa Perrin and editor Lisa Hurley were on hand to accept the award on behalf of the magazine staff.
