. According to company representatives, the company, which was founded in Wheaton, Md., in 1969 as a tool and party rental provider, changed its name to signify that it now rents event items exclusively, having sold its tool division last year. They added that Select is now the largest independent event rental company in the “Baltimore/Washington metropolitan area,” providing chairs, tables, china, silver, linens, tents and specialty items to caterers, foodservice companies, institutions and consumers in the region. Martin Ortenzio, company president, said that Select plans to expand regionally in the future, moving into locations including Philadelphia, New Jersey and New York.
