The No. 1 story with readers of Special Events last month was the threat from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts of Sciences to sue an Atlanta event planner over her use of "Oscar-style" decor.

One of the galling aspects of the threatened suit, the planner told Special Events, is that her statue "looks more like a gold alien" than the famed Oscar.
