Security tight for Reagan funeral
Some 100,000 admirers trooped past late president Ronald Reagan’s casket at his presidential library in Simi Valley, Calif., this week, and from 150,000 to 200,000 are expected to pay their last respects as the body lies in state in the Capitol Rotunda in Washington, before the national funeral service Friday. Reagan died Saturday.
The large turnout has been a surprise even to planners, reports say. Between 3,000 and 4,000 officers are on duty in Washington.
The state funeral tomorrow at Washington’s National Cathedral will be the first since that for president Lyndon Johnson in 1973.
