M & M Rental Center announced yesterday that it has acquired Abbey Party Rents of Dallas and its subsidiary, Props of Texas, through M & M’s newly formed subsidiary Texas M & M Acquisitions LLC.

“M & M is delighted to have acquired the expertise of Abbey and looks forward to sharing its expertise in tabletop and specialty linens with the Dallas market while utilizing Abbey’s event production and prop and décor expertise to its Chicago area clients,” said Mike Berk, president of M & M.

Abbey president John Jakob and his partner, Robert Slavik, will remain with the Abbey in management positions. Jakob is the current President of the Texas Rental Association.

“We started this company in 1990 on a shoestring and built it into one of the top companies in the special events rental business,” Jakob said. “We knew that we needed a financial partner to help continue our growth. We’re excited about what M & M brings to the table.”

Abbey was represented by Gary Stansberry and Fred Hageman of Hageman, Stansberry & Associates of Arlington, Texas, and Cameron Park, Calif.

Terms of the sale were not disclosed. M & M reports annual rental revenue of just under $6 million.
