Eco-friendly Hotel Indigo Opens in San Diego

Hotel Indigo, which opened in San Diego's Gaslamp Quarter last week, is the first LEED-certified hotel in the city, management says.

The 210-room property is topped with a green roof on the ninth and 12th floors; the roof is covered in drought-tolerant plants, which will reduce the need for heating and air conditioning.

The hotel offers a recycling program in guest room and operations areas; the pantry and kitchen compost organic matter from the Indigo's restaurant.

Hotel Indigo is within walking distance of Petco Park, the convention center and the city's lively Gaslamp Quarter, home to nightclubs and restaurants.
