Ketchup Restaurant

KETCHUP

ADDRESS: 8590 W. Sunset Blvd., West Hollywood, CA 90069

WEB SITE: www.dolcegroup.com/ketchup

DIG IN: Don't let this Hollywood hot spot's down-home name fool you. Offering gussied-up comfort food such as Kobe beef hot dogs and mac and cheese — made with white truffles and Dungeness crab — Ketchup is a favorite among the young superstar set. The restaurant's plush, white leather seats contrast dramatically with glowing red lights, which are reminiscent of — you guessed it — drops of ketchup. The lounge is separated from the main dining room by an iridescent glass wall; stark white walls are perfect for projections.

TABLE FOR 20: The 4,500-square-foot restaurant can seat up to 140 guests; event spaces can host up to 250 reception-style. Plasma TV screens dot the walls; a sound system is also available. For cocktail parties, bartenders mix up Kool-Aid, Tang and Yoo-Hoo martinis; a wine team is on hand to assist with pairings.

THE PLANTATION HOUSE RESTAURANT

ADDRESS: 2000 Plantation Club Drive, Kapalua, HI 96761

WEB SITE: www.theplantationhouse.com

DIG IN: Sitting high above the Pacific coastline in Kapalua on the island of Maui, The Plantation House's island-inspired menu rivals its ocean view. The restaurant serves local favorites — such as Maui onion-crusted fresh fish and seared scallops — on teak wood tables; hand-carved chairs feature pineapple motifs and soft cushions. The casually elegant setting is ideal for beach weddings, cocktail parties and bridal brunches.

TABLE FOR 20: The restaurant features several event areas: The lower lawn offers coastline vistas, while the private Grille Room is perfect for hosting intimate baby showers and employee parties. The main dining room features a fireplace and a lanai; the dining room can accommodate up to 150 seated guests while the lanai provides seating for 24 people. The restaurant offers several wedding menus, which include breakfast, brunch, lunch, dinner and cocktail party options.
