VISUALS & VIBE: Park Privé is part of Joachim Splichal's Patina Group and is Patina Catering's home in Orange County, Calif. The venue is made up of a range of elegant event spaces, from intimate meeting rooms to Le Grand Park, a spacious lawn that can accommodate 800 guests.

EVENT AREAS: The 60-capacity La Rosarie Room and 100-capacity Fountainbleau Room are decorated in modern Spanish style and are popular for dinner and cocktail receptions; the three boardrooms can accommodate 10 to 16 people and feature wireless Internet and audiovisual capabilities.

SPECIAL SPACE: The Mirabelle room has a reception capacity of 150 and offers such architectural features as five skylights and windows that overlook manicured gardens. VISUALS & VIBE: Located on the 33rd and 34th floors of a skyscraper in downtown Boston, State Room is owned and operated by Longwood Events Corp. The loft-like space hosted 28 parties during the 2004 Democratic National Convention; it is available for corporate events during the week and social events on weekends.

EVENT AREAS: The venue is made up of a main ballroom and six smaller rooms, all fitted with floor-to-ceiling windows and connected with air walls that can be removed to create a single space.

SPECIAL SPACE: The 7,000-square-foot, 500-reception-capacity Great Room is a two-story ballroom that features a 30-by-120-foot wall of windows offering views of the Boston skyline and harbor. The neutral decor scheme includes dark hardwood floors, stainless steel and glass elements.

VISUALS & VIBE: Several indoor and outdoor structures that can be booked separately or together make up Compound. The ultra-modern venue often hosts club nights and is popular for cocktail receptions, meetings and company dinners.

EVENT AREAS: Inside, the 3,250-square-foot MB1 room features a 700-square-foot soundproof loft that can be used as a VIP area; outside, an Asian-influenced tented garden called Tenshi has a guest capacity of 150 to 200. The total venue capacity is 2,500 guests.

SPECIAL SPACE: The 4,850-square-foot RIDE room features state-of-the-art audiovisual equipment including 20 flat projection screens and intelligent lighting; the adjoining 600-square-foot Bamboo Room offers an intimate escape within the larger space. RIDE has a total reception capacity of 800 and a theater-style capacity of 540.
