Singer Jimmy Buffett Opens Margaritaville Hotel in Florida
Singer Jimmy Buffet ("Margaritaville," "Cheeseburger in Paradise") opened the 162-room Margaritaville Beach Hotel on Pensacola Beach, Fla., last week. Set on 800 feet of beach on the Gulf of Mexico, the property offers two meeting rooms and three breakout rooms for a total of 1,672 square feet of meeting space. Along with the main meeting room (1,174 square feet) is the 498-square-foot Boardroom, which seats 10. All meeting rooms have wireless Internet access; a large pre-function area overlooks the gulf. The Land Shark Pavilion, located directly on the gulf, is available for receptions, events and meal functions for up to 200 guests.

Paradise Point Resort Upgrades Event Space
Paradise Point Resort & Spa, located in San Diego, has refurbished its more than 35,000 square feet of indoor meeting space. The property features 32 banquet and meeting rooms, including the 10,064-square-foot Paradise Ballroom, with on-site AV staff. Meeting rooms now feature wood ceilings, slate and river stone flooring, mother of pearl and walnut wall paneling and modern art. Some 30,000 square feet of outdoor meeting space, which includes beaches, lawns and poolside patios, is also available. The resort is 10 minutes away from downtown San Diego.

Millennium St. Louis

Millennium Hotel St. Louis Offers iPad Promotion
On the heels of a $1 million renovation of its meeting spaces this spring, the Millennium Hotel St. Louis in St. Louis now offers planners who host a meeting by March 31, 2011, a free iPad. The offer is valid for new business only, and bookings must meet a minimum of $5,000 in room revenue to quality. Contracts must be signed by Aug. 31, 2010. Located next to the city's landmark Gateway Arch, the 780-room hotel is within walking distance of major attractions. It features more than 65,000 square feet of meeting and banquet space in 24 rooms including the Palm Court, which features a three-story glass wall overlooking the Arch.
