A 100-year-old factory may not seem like a stunning wedding setting—until Atlanta-based Bold American Events & Catering went to work. Under the guidance of creative director Steve Bales, the event team created a sunny-side-up wedding reception featuring bold swaths of yellow and upside-down bouquets.

For the April event, Bales and Christina Zubowicz of Magnolia Events & Planning went all out with the bride's chosen color scheme of yellow, black and white. The 175 guests entering the Event Gallery at King Plow Arts Center passed by a yellow umbrella garden, where escort cards tied to yellow ribbons dangled from an iron gazebo accented with greenery and twinkle lights.

All floral—forsythia, callas, spider mums, Gerbera daisies and ranunculus—kept the sunny yellow theme going. A 12-foot-long chandelier of upside-down yellow tulips with open blooms created a focal point.

Executive chef Todd Annis developed a yellow-theme menu, including yellow gazpacho, golden beet salad, yellowtail sole, and mango and chocolate mousse cones. The event's signature Scorpino cocktail consisted of lemon sorbet, citrus vodka and limoncello served in a champagne glass garnished with a lemon slice.

Bales turned to 60-inch round tables, 60-inch square tables and estate tables for drama, with five different black-and-white patterns of linens from I Do Linens. Black chiavaris from Peachtree Tents & Events and black chargers grounded the color scheme.

Even the wedding cake showed a new side: The red velvet cake—frosted in black and white—hung from the ceiling.
