The only thing writers like more than quoting themselves, the saying goes, is quoting other writers.
If it helps any of you as you face down scary event deadlines, here are some of the wise words that help me stay on track with my deadlines:
"Read over your compositions, and wherever you meet with a passage which you think is particularly fine, strike it out." —Samuel Johnson
"The difference between the almost right word and the right word is really a large matter—it's the difference between the lightning bug and the lightning." —Mark Twain
"The secret to performing an impossible task is to work—one day at a time—without hope and without despair." —Isak Dinesen
Best of luck with your deadlines, and wish me luck with mine!
