I was feeling worldly and wise this morning—at least as worldly as one can feel at 2 a.m. Pacific Time—as I watched the royal wedding on TV. How well I remember watching Charles and Diana's ceremony 30 years ago!
But a friend in my office has me beat. Today's ceremony marks her third royal wedding, as she recalls listening to the radio telecast when Elizabeth and Philip married in 1947. Footage of the event was shown later in movie theaters.
What hasn't changed in more than 60 years? A radiant bride, a jubilant public, a legendary setting and a dignified service. Wonderful.
