Today is the first day of sessions at Catersource The Special Event here in Austin, TX. With so many things to do and people to connect with, there can be a lot bouncing around in the back of your head and a lot to keep track of as you make your way through the conference center. Here are a few helpful items to keep in your toolkit for a successful week.

1. Catersource The Special Event app

Make sure to download the conference app, which shows you sessions, lets you build your schedule, keeps track of contacts, lets you rate sessions you've attended, preps you for evening events, provides tradeshow floor maps, and so much more. This app is your one stop shop for navigating through the conference.

2. Business card app

Going paperless with business cards means less to carry and less to lose—plus, it's more sustainable. You can download apps like BizConnect, Haystack, Blinq, or even LinkedIn to create an online business card with a scannable QR code, which makes it easy to swap digital info in real time.

3. Something to take notes on

It probably goes without saying, but you're going to want a way to remember the great information you learn in sessions and conversations! Whether you tote a tablet, laptop, or old-fashioned notebook and pen, make sure you have a way to easily write down your best takeaways.

4. A reusable water bottle

Hydration is key! It's easy to lose track of time and have a whole day pass without drinking enough water. Bring a reusable water bottle so you can fill up and stay hydrated!

5. Good footwear

Conferences mean long days and lots of walking. Make sure you invest in comfortable, supportive footwear! You'll thank yourself at the end of the week.

6. A jacket or cardigan

It may be hot in Texas, but it's often air-conditioned in conference centers. If you're someone who runs on the colder side, be sure to prepare and bring extra layers for those hours of sitting inside.

7. Phone charger/laptop charger

Again, long days mean more time on your phone—which contains those valuable conference apps, plus your messages. Bring a charger to be safe!

With these items on your person, you'll be able to make it through the conference successfully.

We're so excited to be with you all in Austin, learning, connecting, and having fun!
