TSE Spotlight: Meet Brian Green
A sneak peak of what to expect during Catersource + The Special Event

Brian Green is a multi-award-winning event planner, speaker and educator with twenty years of experience in the international events industry. This former Diplomat for the country of Barbados is the Chief Event Architect and Creative Visionary of By BrianGreen LLC based in Atlanta and Crown Events Inc in Barbados, is known for creating amazing social and corporate events across the globe.
JEZEBEL Magazine voted Green - Best Planner in Atlanta, 2010 and again in 2015 and 2016. He has also been recognized as a " Hall of Fame Recipient" for Best of The Knot. Green has honed his experience into engaging speaking opportunities at such incredible conferences like The Knot, Engage! 2021, Wedding MBA, Catersource, The Signature CEO, Wedding Summit, and Coterie Retreat, just to name a few.
In 2017, he was the featured guest expert on The Steve Harvey Show for their annual Wedding Hour where he presented great tips and advice on how to host the best wedding, while avoiding the usual pitfalls (S5, Ep 168). Green has been featured and published in every major publication including Grace Ormonde, Bride's Magazine, Inside Weddings, Munaluchi Bride, Essence, The Knot, B Collective, just to name a few. Green is a mentor in the Fellowship for Change 2021program for WedPro.
As part of his strong activism and belief in Diversity, Equity & Inclusion, he serves as Chairman of the Board for the National Society of Black Wedding & Event Professionals. Green recently launched his podcast called "The Green Room" and is currently working on his first book with a publisher.

Event Terminology 101 - Understanding the Basics

The Wedding and Event Industry often has a low barrier to entry and attracts people who are highly creative and super talented but do not necessarily have the basics in hand in order to truly service their clients effectively. Even industry peers who have been around for a long time sometimes do not know some of the terminology they should be aware of. We often speak in acronyms and use technical terms that confuse the clients and sadly sometimes the planners involved. This fun, fast-paced 45 minute session takes all attendees back to basics with key terminology phrases they must know in order to service clients professionally:

As a Bonus: Attendees will also learn how to calculate a venue's actual room occupancy depending on the type of event their client is hosting. Oftentimes clients ask how many people can hold in a space - as a professional planner you should be able to calculate that on the spot - not all venues are accurate in what they publish and it is your job to know how to do it so you can guide your client effectively to the right venue for their needs.
