MPI has announced the formation of a steering committee that will lead to the creation of a MPI India Chapter. The announcement came during a function at Hyderabad International Convention Center by Didier Scaillet, MPI vice president of global development, in front of a crowd of Indian meetings and events professionals. The committee will begin its work next year.
“The expansion of MPI into India is a deliberate response to supporting the outstanding meetings and travel growth in the region,” said Prasant Saha, chairman of the committee. "With the continuous development of its meetings and events industry infrastructure, India certainly will be a major player in Asia Pacific meetings and events industry.”
“The development of this chapter fits in with India’s vision to develop a vibrant ecosystem of world-class meetings, incentives, conventions and exhibitions, and international organizations, which play an instrumental role in the professional development of the India meetings industry," Scaillet said. "A strong presence in India will provide a community platform that will support our members who have an interest or desire to expand their business into or from this region of the world."
