Special Events magazine announces today that Jerry Hellmann, co-founder and co-CEO of Pennsauken, N.J.-based AFR Furniture Rental, will receive the 2019 Richard Carbotti Gala Award, which recognizes his longtime commitment to volunteerism.
The award was launched at The Special Event in 2015 in honor of late industry icon Richard Carbotti. It is a tribute to the generosity of spirit that is characteristic of the event industry. Prior winners of the Carbotti Award are Joann Roth-Oseary (Someone’s in the Kitchen), Tony Conway (Legendary Events) and Susie Perelman (Mosaic).
Hellmann served as president of the International Furniture Rental Association from 2011-2013 and currently serves on IFRA’s board. He is affiliated with several nonprofit organizations, including as a trustee of Abramson Senior Care, a director of Federation Housing Inc., and a board member of the SEARCH Foundation. He also is a trustee and former officer of Beth Sholom Congregation in Elkins Park, Pa.
The Gala Awards will be presented on Jan. 10 at The Special Event 2019 in San Diego. Also at the ceremony, Kathy Miller of Total Event Resources will receive the 2019 Gala Award for Lifetime Achievement.
