Green Venue SPUR Opens in San Francisco
SPUR Urban Center--a "green" venue developed by the San Francisco Planning & Urban Research Association—has opened near San Francisco's Moscone Center. The property is on track to achieve Silver LEED certification, management says, and can be rented on either an exclusive or floor-by-floor basis. Buy-outs provide more than 3,840 square feet of space for up to 425 guests, including the fourth-floor penthouse with terrace. The building features cabinetry made from crushed sunflower seed husks and countertops made of recycled newspapers.
Millennium Bostonian Completes Renovation
Since completing a nearly $24 million renovation, the Millennium Bostonian Hotel features the new Seasons Ballroom, a 3,000-square-foot space with bay windows and a glass ceiling to provide natural lighting. The ballroom can be used for social functions for up to 160 seated guests and for receptions for up to 195 standing guests. Also available is 800 square feet of pre-function space. The hotel overlooks Boston landmarks Faneuil Hall and Quincy Market.
Founders Hall Opens in Charleston, S.C.
The new Founders Hall community building, which opened Oct. 1 at Charles Towne Landing in Charleston, S.C., offers 9,000 square feet of interior space and a 1,800-square-foot porch. The venue offers a full kitchen as well as both large and small meeting rooms that can accommodate groups of up to 150. Charles Towne Landing preserves and interprets the founding site of Charleston on the banks of the Ashley River; Founders Hall includes small exhibits and signage that help tell the story, management says. Founders Hall was built to meet the requirements of Silver LEED certification.
