The hotel ballroom has been transformed into an Italian stone garden. The chandeliers have been dimmed, replaced by strategic lighting that highlights the floral, mimicking the waning of sunlight on a summer day and bringing on the stars of a summer night.
The ballroom features 54 tables dressed in sheer linen in a palette of gold, champagne, cream and butter.
Each round table features a stone statue, like those found in Italian fountains. Maidens and cherubs--many over 6 feet tall--hold 3-foot-wide topiaries of cream hydrangeas, butter yellow Creme de la Creme roses, natural white Polo roses and creamy pink Quicksand roses interspersed with feathery plumosa, natural moss, variegated ivy, glossy salal, smilax and ming fern.
Oblong tables feature gold urns of the same flowers, alternating with candelabras. Each table was topped with a 5-foot solid floral runner.
A long view of the ballroom. The event team used more than 5,000 hydrangeas and 10,000 roses in the design.
Seven head tables face the center of the ballroom, framed by a 36-foot-long series of wooden archways, which suspended semi-opaque backlit drapery.
The main arch over the bride and groom is covered with greenery to provide the appearance of naturally grown moss and give an aged look to the faux stone structure; tiny white berries give texture and detail.
Lighting dims during the evening, suggesting night is falling in the stone garden.
Table linen is embellished with inlaid designs of three-dimensional rosettes, floral or leaf patterns, echoing the rich floral theme.
The beautiful floral theme doesn't appear only in the ballroom--side tables, powder rooms and the grand fireplace all hold hydrangeas, roses and greenery so important to the stone garden theme.
The 10-foot-tall wedding cake bears the same floral treatment. The "cake" is made of wood and covered in white fondant--the top tier is true cake.
