Fairmont Debuts Healthy Menus, Queen Mary Renovates, Taheima Offers "Meetings with Meaning"

Fairmont Debuts Range of Healthy Menus
Starting Jan. 1, Toronto-based Fairmont Hotels will offer the new program "Lifestyle Cuisine Plus" to meeting planners. The new menu—available upon request--caters to guests who have specific diet-dependent conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and celiac disease as well as to dietary preferences including, macrobiotic, raw and vegan diets. The new program is an extension of Fairmont Lifestyle Cuisine, which targets the most common dietary choices found among guests, such as low-fat, low-carbohydrate and vegetarian. If requested, chefs can also create a single dish, multiple courses or an entire day’s meal plan around specified caloric goals. Lifestyle Cuisine Plus is available for plated service only, while standard Lifestyle Cuisine is available for plated and buffet service.

Queen Mary Completes Renovations
The legendary Queen Mary ocean liner, docked in Long Beach, Calif., has completed renovations of 18,700 square feet of meeting space along with its 314 staterooms, three of its restaurants and its Royal Wedding Chapel. The ship's three largest meeting salons—the Grand, Windsor and Queen's Salon (in photo)—feature new carpeting and drapes chosen in consultation with an art deco historian. The Royal Wedding Chapel, which seats 150, has new pews, paint, carpeting and drapes. Restaurants feature refurbished interiors and updated menus reflecting sustainable dining practices, according to management.

"Meetings with Meaning" Plan Offered at Taheima
Taheima Wellness Resort and Spa, located near Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, now offers its "meeting with meaning" package, which keys on wellness-inspired corporate meetings, incentives, conferences, team-building events and retreats, according to management. Available for stays until Dec. 19, the package offers a discounted room rate and training for attendees on how to avoid illness and enjoy good health. The 135-room resort includes two large infinity pools and 25 classes a week on exercise, dance and art. The property features 10 meeting rooms and a variety of breakouts, public spaces and boardrooms accommodating from 30 to 160 people; the Grand Ballroom can host up to 600 guests.
