Vinoy Renaissance Offers Free Site Visit for Planners
In honor of its 85th anniversary, the iconic St. Petersburg, Fla.-based Vinoy Renaissance Resort & Golf Club will award a free, two-day VIP site visit for two to planners who submit a qualifying RFP by March 25. To qualify, the event must include 100 or more total rooms held between June 1 and Sept. 30, 2011, or June 1 and Sept. 30, 2012. The property features 55,000 square feet of indoor and outdoor event space, including the recently renovated Palm Court and Grand Ballroom. The two areas now feature a warm, neutral, champagne palette specifically created to compliment the resort's surroundings. The ballroom's famed barrel ceiling, arched windows and detailed plaster have been preserved; a new Chihuly-designed chandelier is a focal point.
New York's Greene Space Wins LEED Certification
The new Jerome L. Greene Performance Space, located in the facilities of public radio station WNYC in New York, offers state-of-the-art multimedia capabilities for events of up to 200 guests. Amid sleek furnishings, guests at corporate and social events can stream audio and video of live events and download podcasts created in the space. Management points to benefits including excellent acoustics, ground-floor accessibility, clear sight lines, a convenient location and a separate reception lobby. The LEED Gold-certified venue offers a concert Fazioli grand piano, green room with shower, catering prep area, coat check, storage area, chairs, tables and stanchions.
Choura's Grand Event Center Remodeled
Event provider Choura Events has remodeled its signature event venue, the Grand Event Center in Long Beach, Calif. The $500,000 remodel, completed in January, included new carpets, stonework, lighting and paint for the 40,000-square-foot complex, which includes four landscaped areas and seven customizable event spaces including the Grand Ballroom (in photo). Events can range from 25 to 600 guests; the complex offers complimentary parking. On-site catering offers a range of menus from hors d'oeuvre to full meals; the special wedding package includes a personalized cake from any of three local bakeries.
