I had to have an X-ray taken this morning. As I lay on the table and stared up at the ceiling, I was surprised to find that some thoughtful staffer had replaced one of the boring acoustic tiles with a photo of a lovely garden--right where I would see it.
This reminded me of the time I dropped a pearl earring in the bathroom of a fancy hotel chain. As I crawled around the floor looking for it, I got some not-so-lovely views of the underside of fixtures that hadn't been cleaned in some time. The hotel chain has never seemed so fancy to me since.
As you think about placement of everything from centerpieces to client brands, put yourself in your guests' place—literally. What will they see?
