SeaWorld Orlando opened "Ports of Call" in March, a new banquet facility and special event complex at the theme park. Complementing SeaWorld's marine theme, Ports of Call is set in a nautical wharf-side warehouse district, complete with two miniature submarines.

The venue has 12,000 square feet of indoor space and more than 17,000 square feet of outdoor reception space. The dining/function ballroom provides seating for 850 guests; the larger outdoor garden reception area can accommodate 1,700 people and features live, exotic birds. In the garden, hosts can also schedule shows with sea lions and penguins.

Special event director Toni Caracciolo tells Special Events Magazine that the growth of the special event business inspired the idea for a unique, flexible venue. "Since it's directly in our park, there is a smooth flow from reception area to dinner area, and just a few steps away are all the attractions of SeaWorld, such as a private Shamu show or a fireworks show."
