WHTI restrictions could slow The deadline for the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative (dubbed "WHTI")--which would require all travelers to and from the Americas, Caribbean and Bermuda to have a passport or other ID document as of January 1, 2008--might be postponed. Under an amendment introduced in the U.S. Senate last week, the new deadline would be June 1, 2009.
