FAVORITE THING ABOUT THE EVENT INDUSTRY: The people in the events industry are among the most professional, helpful, and genuine people I've been around in any industry I've been in. We all often share ideas and support each other, as well as being so fortunate to have a client-base that is loyal and ones that we consider true friends. 

FAVORITE PART OF AN EVENT: After all of the planning that starts with blank canvases of ideas, there are few things that thrill me more then when we call for doors to open. Seeing the look on the faces of the attendees is amazing. We have been fortunate to produce events where the audience and clients' jaws drop with excitement over what they are seeing and experiencing.

WHY WORK IN EVENTS: I do what I do because I'm driven by the challenge of continually coming up with ways to outdo ourselves. When faced with a challenge of timeframe, budget, or coming up with new ideas to spice up repeat events, I love living through the creative process of giving birth to new ideas.

FAVORITE QUOTE: "Nobody cares more about your stupid event than me."

It doesn't sound very motivational, I know. When a tech said that to me under his breath many years ago, I nearly fired him on the spot. But the more I thought about it, he might have had something there. All of the behind the scene work that happens. All the thought to anticipate things that might go wrong. Having a Plan B, C, and D which the clients often never see or even hear about.

That negative sounding quote is something that I have pulled the sentiment out of and made into a positive thing for my entire staff. Care about these events like they are your own. Care about the process, the success, because ultimately, the success of the event is our success.

I didn't start from this industry when I started Animatic. Find a mentor and learn, learn, learn. If you are already an industry leader, its time to give back! Find someone new in the business and help them.
