New name for Conferon Meetings giant Conferon Global Services has changed its name to Experient, with the goal of uniting its divisions under one brand. From its headquarters in Twinsburg, Ohio, the new entity combines the Conferon, ExpoExchange and ITS operations "into one centrally managed resource for full-service, customized registration, housing, event management and lead-retrieval services," the company says. This year, Experient will create "memorable event experiences for more than 2,800 events attended by 3.2 million people, who will occupy and drive purchasing of more than 4.2 million hotel room nights" ...
Mexican 'yell' ceremony moves In light of safety concerns posed by supporters of his defeated rival, Mexican president Vicente Fox last week moved the nation's traditional "yell of independence" ceremony from the balcony of the National Palace in Mexico City to a town 170 miles north. The tradition dates back to 1810, when Father Miguel Hidalgo called on Mexicans to rebel against colonial Spain.
