Cutting guest count is top wedding cost-cutter Reducing the guest list is the favorite technique of professional wedding planners to rein in costs for today's budget-conscious brides. Some 23 percent of respondents to an online poll from Special Events named this their top choice, followed by picking an alternative time of day or day of the week (14 percent), switching to less expensive floral (10 percent), turning to a less expensive venue (8 percent), and switching to less expensive food (5 percent). Two percent of respondents didn't pick any technique—they said their brides are not concerned about cost.
