L.A. health officials warn of ill Puck worker The Los Angeles County Department of Public Health has urged guests at several parties catered by Los Angeles-based Wolfgang Puck Catering to get a shot by today to protect against the threat of Hepatitis A infection posed by an ill food-handler. The suspect events include the Sports Illustrated swimsuit issue party Feb. 14 at the Pacific Design Center; the Academy Awards Governors Ball, which WPC catered on Sunday, is not affected. The health department acted in response to an alert from WPC that one of its employees had fallen ill. "The company has been exemplary in their response to this situation," Dr. Jonathan Fielding, director of public health and county health officer, said. "Quick action on their part has minimized the number of patrons that may have been exposed to Hepatitis A." New event VP at MPI Dallas-based MPI said yesterday that former association executive Vicki Hawarden has been named to the post of vice president of knowledge management and member events. Along with delivering education products to members, Hawarden will be responsible for "creation and management of member event experiences," MPI said.
