A ballroom space "before."

"Although the original features of the ballroom spaces were beautiful, we wanted to create a more modern and fresh space for guests," the Ruby J team says. "Curtains would be removed and false walls would be erected to ensure privacy."

To help the clients see the design transformation, the Ruby J team offers a 3D visual of what the initial view will look like for guests as they arrive. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors are etched with a frosted design.

Following on from the initial rendering, the reality introduced a last-minute change of design for the glass doors; the familiar pattern of the "Copacabana wave" motif from the beach sidewalks is used instead.

And another before: A rendering showing how Ruby J will make the most of the entrance space.

This space will be used for guests throughout the Games for registration and general inquiries, so it had to be functional.

And the after: Custom-designed branded desks and subtle lighting make this space welcoming.

"All required branding was subtly designed to be functional, to create privacy from the normally open balconies, whilst fitting into the overall decor," the Ruby J team says.

A second view of the same space shows how little natural daylight usually reaches the room.

And what could happen: A 3D rendering shows a much brighter and lighter space that will be inviting for guests.

To achieve the change, the existing curtains will be removed and a full mirrored wall erected to create the privacy required. This will also work well to bounce light off the walls and ceiling.

And the after ...

Ambient lighting fixtures, all independently controlled, give a warm and relaxing environment where guests can sit and watch the Olympic Games.

Cozy sofas and armchairs ensure guests are comfortable at all times.

The finer details are not forgotten: All accessories are branded.

Another before: A second ballroom will be host for breakfast, lunch, snacks and dinner throughout the Games.

"Working with the existing decor, we wanted to keep the furniture and buffet stations simple with clean lines," the Ruby J team says.

And after: The ‘’surf board’’ buffet stations serve well for the elegant food selections offered by the Copacabana Palace

Custom banquette seating units were designed and hand-built. Dining chairs were custom spray-painted with tiny gold ‘’socks,’’ adding another charming detail.

The details on the bar and coffee stations replicate the existing marble floor tiles. "With all units being Illuminated, it added a 'pop' to the neutral space," the Ruby J team says.

Before: A vast terrace space adjoining the ballrooms allows guests to dine and relax overlooking Copacabana Beach.

And after: Beautiful lighting and luxurious seating add to the ambiance.

Additional television units are added to ensure that no one misses a moment of the Games.

Bespoke, hand-built dining tables allow for additional dining space.
