Hot off the Press

Today marks the kickoff of Art Basel Miami 2022, a three-day premier art show that strives to “create unique artist-led experiences and strengthen local art scenes,” according to the company’s mission statement. The show is the catalyst for a multitude of local events, including concerts, cocktail parties, dinner parties, and pop-ups, among others. Art Basel will host conversation panels, film screenings, guided tours, and art exhibitions featuring the work of hundreds of established and emerging artists.

Legendary songwriter and performer Elton John celebrated the official closing of his career by partnering with Google to create an immersive virtual map that allowed fans to explore significant places in Los Angeles from Elton's past and present. Elton invited fans to take part in a scavenger hunt at landmarks across the city, focusing on four locations in Los Angeles: West Hollywood's Carrera Café, Hollywood’s SuperVinyl, Beverly Hills' The Webster, and The Troubadour in West Hollywood. Each location posted a unique QR code inside or outside, providing access to individual giveaway entry forms, where fans had a chance to win merch prizes (exclusive to each location). Fans were also eligible to enter for a chance to win concert tickets in the Grand Prize Giveaway. Elton’s final concert took place at Dodger Stadium on Nov. 20.
