White Paper Outlines Crisis Management for Events

The International Congress and Convention Association releases a white paper on preparing for and solving crises at events and meetings.

The International Congress and Convention Association takes a long, hard look at how event and meeting managers can prepare for, manage and recover from crises that threaten their events. This new white paper was developed in cooperation with Safehotels Alliance, which develops safety and security protocols for hotels and venues:

A comprehensive new guide from the International Congress & Convention Association shows meeting managers how to prepare for, manage, and recover from any crisis situation occurring at a meeting or event, with the goal of ensuring minimal impact to people, reputation, and assets (in that order of priority). The adapted excerpts of the ICCA guidelines below come from Andy Williams, vice president, quality assurance and business development, Safehotels. Safehotels Alliance AB was founded in 2001 to create a global hotel security standard. Now active in 31 countries, the Alliance provides independently verified security and safety certification for hotels and meeting venues worldwide. Although written for association executives, the guidelines can be adapted for any event organizer.--MeetingsNet
