Mary Beth Hunt, event manager for the La Quinta Arts Foundation, La Quinta, Calif., and president of the Desert Resorts Chapter of NACE, has been elected chairperson of the association's chapter presidents council.
As chairperson, Hunt will oversee the council, which comprises 45 NACE chapter presidents from the United States and South Africa. She will also serve as representative of the council on the national board of NACE. Hunt, a founding member and two-term president of the Desert Resorts Chapter, referred to her election as “a real honor and opportunity for our Desert Resorts Chapter to make a difference on the national level.”

MPI has appointed Anne-Marie Taylor director of strategic events and travel services. Previously MPI's senior coordinator of meetings and conferences, Taylor will now manage the design and execution of all MPI events, including trade shows and corporate receptions. She will also serve as liaison to MPI committees and manage the association's online Communities of Interest — a forum for information exchange on MPI's most popular issues, including destinations and facility marketing, global business, and certification and careers.
Before joining MPI, Taylor worked as manager of corporate meetings for Dr Pepper/Seven Up, where she planned and executed 75 meetings annually with a $5 million budget.
“As a long-term member of MPI, I'm looking forward to the events that have been a vital part of my own professional development,” Taylor said of her new position. MPI president/CEO Edwin L. Griffin added, “Anne-Marie is a great asset to MPI. She brings a number of years of senior corporate experience and a wealth of knowledge to this position, and will play an integral part in enhancing many of our key strategic events.”
