Caterers Reach Out to Firefighters, Victims

As the region's notorious winds begin to subside, Southern California is still reeling from a week of nearly two dozen wildfires. Caterers in hard-hit San Diego have been quick to reach out to help.

San Diego-based TK&A Custom Catering announced that it will feed nearly 600 evacuees at a local high school today. The catering company is working with the Red Cross to determine locations in need of hot meals. A local law firm donated funds for an event it canceled to be used by TK&A to feed fire victims. TK&A plans to feed 2,500 people in the next few days, a spokesperson for the company said.

Also, San Diego-based Picnic People fed lunches to several thousand firefighters, a spokesperson for the company said. "Big production lines have been put in place in their kitchen to assemble, and then crews are driving to established sites to do the 'feedings,'" the company reports.
