New Ebell management holds open house

L.A.'s stately Ebell--a women's club facility dating back to 1927 located on Wilshire Boulevard--showed its lively side last night at an open house for event planners to showcase the venue.

Now under entirely new management--with David Drury, CCM, as general manager and chief operating officer--the 75,000 square foot Italian Renaissance-style complex offers a Club Wing, theater wing, a garden with patios and a loggia, along with unique features such as a library, art salon and solarium.

Ebullient Ebell: Built in the Roaring '20s, L.A.'s Ebell is set to roar again under new management (left).

Lauri Ringer, formerly of Patina Catering, is the Ebell's new executive director of special events.

The venue offers in-house catering headed up by executive chef Louis Pechan, who spent four years as executive chef at Santa Monica's Rockenwagner, plus a stint at Patina Catering.

Garden party: The Ebell's neon sign--a signature feature in L.A.'s Wilshire District--glows above the garden (right).

Last night's guests watched as dusk set off the vintage neon "Ebell" logo, dining on an array of hors d'oeuvre including crab cakes with tomato jam, house-cured gravlax on potato wafers, parmesan french fry cones, and seared beef carpaccio with arugula and parmesan.

Floral fashion: L.A.'s Collage creates dramatic floral for the Ebell's open house (left).
