NACE Charters New Chapter The National Association of Catering Executives hosted its annual leadership conference Jan. 6-8 in Baltimore for 110 members representing 46 chapters.
During the conference, NACE chartered a chapter in Des Moines, Iowa. NACE president Jerry Edwards, CPCE, introduced Stacy Schoop of the Des Moines Marriott as president of the new chapter.
The National Education Con-ference 2000 will be held July 19-22 at the Wyndham Miami Beach (Fla.) Resort. More than 500 members are expected to attend, according to the association.

SITE Gives Awards at International Conference Ray Bloom, co-owner of GoodBean Coffee in Hove, East Sussex, England, received a Lifetime Achievement Award during the Society of Incentive & Travel Executives international conference Dec. 5-9 in Las Vegas.
In 1988, Bloom launched the European Incentive & Business Travel & Meetings Exhibition in Geneva, the first pan-European exhibition for the business tourism sector. He has been an active SITE member since 1989 and serves on the Foundation board of trustees. He recently established the Ray Bloom Foundation to support industry associations, including SITE.
Laurie Sprouse, CITE, of Ultimate Ventures in Dallas was also honored during the conference. She was named 1999 Member of the Year for her efforts in spearheading the establishment of a chapter in Texas.

NCA Conference Draws Record Attendance The National Caterers Association held its annual conference Feb. 19-23 in Washington, hosting its biggest crowd ever. Executive director Diane Welland says the conference attracted more than 500 attendees, made up of caterers, planners and designers. NCA shares conference highlights on its newly redesigned Web site.
